Interested in singing with us?
The PCS looks for experienced choral singers with good sight-reading ability and a good working knowledge of English (the language of rehearsals). As an “unpaid but professional-level choir” (New York Times), members are expected to take their participation seriously, namely to attend all rehearsals, to work on the music on their own (supporting materials will be provided), to participate in each of our three season concerts and the Sing-Along Messiah, and to participate in all aspects of promotion and production of our concerts.
We are looking for good tuning, a vocal quality that will blend with the choir, ability to control vibrato and understanding of musical notation. We also require sight-reading ability since we often tackle long works that would be particularly difficult to fully learn by heart. Auditionees will have the chance to demonstrate their capacity to learn a part, as a section of the season’s repertoire will be sent in advance to be prepared for the audition.
Audition days typically take place twice a year, in September and January. Auditions are now closed for this season, and will open again towards end of May for the next season. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions about the audition process or the PCS.
Auditions, rehearsals and most performances are at the American Cathedral in Paris, 23 avenue George V in the 8th arrondissement. Dues for the whole season are currently 210 euros (105 euros for students and those 30 and under). Rehearsals are Monday nights, from 7:30pm to 10pm, with a refreshment break for socializing.
